Jo Donnellan, Headteacher

I am passionate about the fact every child should (and deserves to) receive a quality education.  I do not believe that a special education need or gender or parental income (or ANY other factor) should dictate how well any pupil progresses.  I believe it is the job of a school to ensure "all" pupils have equal life chances through top notch teaching, based on regular and accurate assessment of their needs.  I also believe that school should be a happy time in a young person's life, a time they look back on with fond memories.  As such, FJS views high quality pastoral care as important as academic excellence.

Anthony Cook, Vice Chair and Chair of Resources

I have been part of the Governing body of Faringdon Junior School for 15 months and took on the role of Chair of the Resources Committee in September 2015. During my time as a Governor, I have worked closely with the School Management Team and the other members of the Governing body to help define the long term development of the school through challenge, strategic direction and executive decision making. I have enjoyed interviewing new members of staff, visiting the school to develop future plans and objectives as well as using my personal and professional experiences to help take the school forward. I work for an international food and drink company as head of European Sales Capability, responsible for defining the strategy and putting in place the training agenda across 50 European countries. I am a certified Executive Coach and Facilitator and have been in Sales for the last 18 years, building partnerships with customers and leading large teams to business success. I have always had a passion for education and have enjoyed having a chance to get involved in the local community to improve education provision for the children of Faringdon now and in the future.

Susan Long - Safeguarding Governor

I have very recently joined the Governing Body at FJS as a Community Governor and I will sit on the Performance and Standards committee. Although I am new to this position I have been a school Governor before at a local primary school for 4 years.  I have worked in education for more than 20 years, currently teaching and assessing further education college students in Early Years Care and Education, and also working with Caring and Health students. I previously worked as a primary school teacher for 7 years and then managed children’s day nurseries for about 6 years. I have 2 children, one at FCC and another at a local primary school. It is an exciting time at FJS and I am looking forward to working with the school during the journey to becoming a primary school and the appointment of a new headteacher.
